Menifee Woman Killed By Van After Finding Husband Dead

MENIFEE (CBS/AP) — Police say a Menifee woman returning from church was killed by her own van while rushing to her husband who had just died from a heart attack on their garage floor.

The North County Times reports Tuesday that the Menifee couple was identified by the Riverside County coroner’s office as 83-year-old Roy Coats and 75-year-old Rose Coats.

Sgt. Dan Lingo says that, in her panic, Rose Coats put the van in reverse and got out to rush to her husband Sunday after he died from a heart attack.

Lingo says the woman became pinned between the van door and the garage door frame, causing her to suffocate.

Coats and her husband were both declared dead at the scene.
